Reasons NOT to buy:

User Reviews

  • Not a great fit for those hiking into campsites, but great for car camping.
  • The added vestibule cannot be attached without the rainfly.
  • Some users have had rain leak through the doors.

Expert Reviews

  • The delicate fabric can snag easily.
  • The doormats can be difficult to clean and can get the rest of the tent dirty when packed up.
  • The stakes included with the tent aren’t long enough to keep the tent stable in strong wind.
  • The large vent in the back of the tent can let in wind-blown rain.
  • The rain blockers on the zippers are on the inside of the tent, which greatly decreases their effectiveness.
  • The fly does not fully cover the doors of the tent.

Summary:

The Big Agnes Big House Deluxe Tent (4-Person 3-Season) is a spacious shelter that feels luxurious when you are inside, with good headroom, lots of internal storage, and the option to add on many of Big Agnes’ signature extra features. This tent offers plenty of space for four people and gear, especially when the vestibule is added, but some of the design features don’t quite work, like the zipper-guards placed on the inside of the tent, allowing rain to seep through, and the lack of a fully mesh back door. Even so, this tent offers good ventilation and good protection from poor weather with its highly waterproof and quality fabric, and has a simple setup and a well-loved storage bag.
