- Osprey provides a great guarantee.
- I cannot get over how comfortable this pack is.
- Excellent weight support and distribution across your body.
- Extremely durable.
- Hipbelt pockets very useful.
- More comfortable than similar packs like the Gregory Baltoro.
- Side water bottle pockets are easy to use without having to stop.
- The anti-gravity suspension system is not a gimmick – it really is amazing.
- Best backpack on the market made by the best backpack company, Osprey.
Expert Reviews
- Lots of great features.
- Well thought out pockets.
- Comfortable.
- The open topped beaver-tail pocket on the back outside of the pack is incredibly useful.
- Good expansion and compression.
- Carries a heavy load very well.
Reasons NOT to buy:
User Reviews
- A little heavier than other packs.
- Removable lid/daypack doesn’t have a good waist belt.
- Daypack moves around too much on back when scrambling.
- You probably should get a high volume size (85L) if you are going to be packing a bear cannister.
- The velcro torso length adjuster can be a little tricky to adjust.
- The Osprey Atmos anti-gravity system is superior to the Aether.
- No integrated rain cover.
- Since the Aether is a little heavier, since it is designed to carry heavy loads, If you’re looking at the 60L version, there are probably better packs, like the Osprey Atmos, to look at.
Expert Reviews
- Slightly heavier than other packs.
- Some other packs carry very heavy loads better.
- Expensive.
Summary:
The Osprey Packs Aether is a workhorse with a thoughtful design. The pack easily carries a heavy load, while providing plenty of bells and whistles. While it is slightly heavier than others, the higher volume versions of the pack make up for it with high performance. There are better low volume packs available.
